Typically most people think that in order to have the “perfect lawn” they have to incur the expense of having sod put down. This is not true. While sod will give the “overnight result” there are many factors of transplant failure to consider.

Core Aeration
Looses the compaction rate in the soil by pulling core plugs allowing oxygen directly to the grass’ root system.
Spring Core Aeration & Overseed
Optional. Spring seeding can have positive results at first, however rapid decline can happen in high heat conditions. Not recommended for most lawns.
Fall Core Aeration & Overseed
A perfect time to seed. Typically Sept-Oct. The root system is established during the fall & winter resulting in a lush canvas for the following spring.
Total Renovation
Prior to seeding, the lawn is “total killed” & followed by a heavy core aeration and overseed allowing for uniform germination & establishment.
Spring & Summer Sodding
Sod allows for the “overnight result”. Typically the highest cost option. Sod can provide fast results with proper feeding and routine maintenance.
CORE AERATION
Core Aeration has two main purposes:
1. The process pulls core “plugs” out of the soil reducing the compaction level. This will allow many of the seeds broadcast after the aeration process to fall down in those fresh holes allowing for faster germination.
2. The second benefit is the aeration process allows oxygen to the existing grasses root system, which promotes deeper growth and viability.
With our summers becoming longer and dryer each year, core aeration in our opinion is a must each fall. When combined with a seeding solution, the lawn is back in shape in 4-6 weeks looking good as new.
SEED VARIETIES
Overview
All Fescue seed is not the same. We look for Turf Density, Disease Resistance and overall Heat Tolerance. All of the seed we use is from the current year and 99.9% pure, giving our lawns only the best possible germination rate as well as the best possible stand without the risk of unwanted growth. When you think about turf grass as a building tool for your lawn, you only want to use the best for our area, which is traditionally more expensive. However, the results from these varieties far supersede the general 3-way fescue in all attributes. We guarantee all of our Over-seeding services!
We choose to use a variety that has superior heat tolerance and disease resistance. Annual seeding will be required after hot and dry summers.
Genetically engineered with superior heat tolerance and disease resistance. Once established and properly fed, the root system will generate itself annually.
Perfect for overseeding through a warm season lawn during the winter months for added color. Typically will start to die off during the following summer
Hybrid Bermuda Grass has great regenerative abilities and low growing leaves. Common on sports fields and has a 4-5 month winter dormancy period.
One of the best warm season varieties to grow in Middle Tennessee. Usually Meyer or Empire varieties. Slower regenerative capability than Bermuda but longer, thicker leaves resulting in a “carpet-like” feel.
TOTAL LAWN RENOVATION
In some situations a total renovation is necessary for a fall seeding solution. When the yard has so many weeds and different type of grass varieties, the best call is to apply an application to eliminate all of the existing growth without sterilizing the soil.
During this time we call the “Total Kill” many customers choose to install an irrigation system if they don’t have one already. Some also choose to add or maintain existing landscape areas and beds and new plant material.
After we have eliminated all of the existing growth and all other additions (if any) have been installed we will provide our seeding solution. Within a few weeks, the young seed will start to germinate and after 4-8 weeks you will have a beautiful and uniform lawn.
